Annie Sailer is a dancer, choreographer, and painter. She directs New York / New Haven-based ANNIE SAILER DANCE COMPANY, holds an MA in Dance and an MA in Studio Art. Annie has trained in the Erick Hawkins Technique since 1974 and performed with Nancy Meehan Dance Company in NYC in 1984 and 1985. She has directed ASDC since 1983, ASDC (NY) since 2001, and taught and presented her work throughout the US, receiving grants and fellowships for her choreography. In 2012 Annie relocated from Brooklyn, NY to New Haven where she teaches on going modern dance classes, rehearses, paints in her Erector Square studio, and commutes to NYC to rehearse with the Company. Class Description: This is a Hawkins-based modern dance class emphasizing pelvis/spine-initiated, free-flow, whole body movement, and correct alignment. The class includes a floor and standing warm-up, followed by movement sequences that incorporate rhythmic and spatial clarity, and use of weight in the momentum flow of the phrase.
